Affiliation Overview: Web Warriors

 How to start the affiliation

Untypically I don't think getting the affiliation pack is always the best way to start here. While Miles and Gwen are absolute core models to the affiliation, 4 threat Peter Parker will very rarely (if ever) see the table and Venom is decent but really up to personal taste. And seeing how the only real benefit of the affiliation pack is getting the additional Peter for free you can really decide if that's worth it for you. If you own core set 1 you already have the character and if you own core set 2 you have Spectacular Spider-Man, who is the better Peter on a threat for threat level. So in short, you absolutely need Miles and Ghost-Spider but can decide whether to get their old pack or the affiliation pack.

For what comes next you have a couple of good options. First you should consider Amazing Spider-Man, whose your second leader and again a better threat for threat Peter Parker than the 4 threat one, and Black Cat. After you've got them I'd invest in Agent Venom and Spider-Woman. Two very good 4 threat choices.

Another, probably more niche, pack of two affiliated 4 threats is Gwenom and Scarlet Spider. They do come with good affiliated TTCs so that has to weigh in on the decision, too.

What leaderships are available and what is the typical game plan

Great Responsibility is a very good leadership that helps you with the type 1 archetype game plan that Web Warriors are known for: Have as many VPs as possible on the table and try to score out as fast as possible. Unlocking the Skulls is particularly helpful for your Spider-Sense characters of course.

Friendly Neighberhood Spider Team is a much more difficult leadership to play. It once again helps wih the "I score more and quicker than you" game plan but is much more situational.

What characters could be added in the future, especially as leaders

There's a bunch of Spider-People from both the Spiderverse comics event and of course the best superhero movies ever made, who could be added here. We know there's a four character Spiderverse pack coming late next year with only Miguel O'Harra, aka Spider-Man 2099, confirmed to be in it. He's a very likely candidate for a new leadership, too.

As for the other three characters in the box my guess is: Spider-Ham, Spider-Punk and Silk. All three have featured on a TTC already.

Rating every affiliated TTC and character

Team Tactics (5)

All Webbed Up

A+. A card that you'll use in everyone of your Web Warriors games. It turns your otherwise rather pillowfisted Spiders into damage monsters for a turn with the added bonus of the opponent not being able to catch them.

Aunt May‘s Wheat Cakes

B. The single best counter against All Webbed Up and thus very good in the mirror match. OK otherwise.

Clone Saga

B-. Once again mostly relevant in the mirror match. Absolute fluff fail, that Peter can't use it against Ben Riley and vice versa.

Masked Menace

A. Extra power is super useful for your Spiders, that are all very power hungry without many ways to generate it.

Spider-Tracker

A. A "free" movement in your opponents turn is very very good. You'll rarely play a game without it.

Characters (14)
Spectacular Spider-Man (3)

A. Spectacular Peter is just a super reliable 3 threat that you'll never regret having in your squad.

Spider-Man (Peter Parker) (4)

C. In theory there's nothing really wrong with OG Peter. He just doesn't do enough for a 4 threat these days. He has a lot of displacement though.

Spider-Man (Miles Morales) (3)

A+. Miles is really pushed on, or possibly even over, the top curve of the 3 threat mark. You'll basically play him every game, even if he isn't your leader.

Spider-Woman (4)

A-. Jessica is pretty much a 4 threat version of Miles (which is pretty lore accurate). She's very good, but doesn't push the boundaries of her threat level quite as much.

Venom (4)

B. Venom is a reasonable 4 threat for middle of the board fighting. Which you most likely don't want to focus on here. He can be valuable to be better at handling these types of games when you get forced to play them by your opponent.

Agent Venom (4)

A. I personally never played a game with Agent Venom where we wasn't amazing. He's not an every game piece here, like he would be in Guardians, but when he comes out, like in the mirror match, he's sure to not disappoint you.

Amazing Spider-Man (5)

A-. ASM brings an in-faction safe grab (which have become much rarer nowadays) and incredible durability. His damage output is a bit under the expected 5 threat curve, but he helps keep your team alive.

Black Cat (3)

A+. Black Cat was "nerfed" in the 2023 updates and is still considered one of the three best 3 threats in the game (with Miles and Baron Zemo), so that should probably tell you everything you need to know here.

Daredevil (4)

B-. Matt Murdock brings an easy Defenders dual flex, if thats something your interested in an a fast, pretty durable, beaater character. He isn't bad, but you have options that further the typical game plan more.

Ghost-Spider (3)

A. Gwen is very good at keeping your team alive and rearainging the board. An opponent who has seen her in action will do everything they can to get her off the board as quickly as possible.

Gwenom (4)

B-. Venomized Gwen is a fast beater character that can hit the enemy for attacking her friends. She does live and die by her 5 dice strikes though which can feel very bad if she can't get damage through.

Moon Knight (3)

A+++. Moon Knight is the best Marvel character. End of story ;-)

No realistically B. He's really good at standing in Strealth range and throwing Moons in Range 4. Very unexciting but it helps win games...

Scarlet Spider (4)

B+. I really like Ben Riley and the ceiling of his turns is very high in terms of potential displacement. He is more reliant on actually interacting with the enemy from a close range than some of the alternatives however.

Silver Sable (4)

B. Sable is an interessting piece in Web Warriors as she can help give the team even more movement and give the pillowfists a bit more punch. The combination of All Webbed Up and her personal TTC Sable International is also very interesting.

Example Roster

Characters (10)
Spectacular Spider-Man (3)
* Spider-Man (Miles Morales) (3)
Spider-Woman (4)
Agent Venom (4)
* Amazing Spider-Man (5)
Black Cat (3)
Ghost-Spider (3)
Scarlet Spider (4)
Silver Sable (4)
Toad (2)

Team Tactics (10)
All Webbed Up
Aunt May‘s Wheat Cakes
Clone Saga
Masked Menace
Spider-Tracker
Brace for Impact (R)
Fall Back (R)
Sable International
The Cat and the Spider
Recalibration Matrix

Secure Crisis
Cosmic Invasion! Black Order Descends on Earth (D, 16)
Infinity Formula Goes Missing! (B, 17)
Riots Spark Over Extremis 3.0 (D, 17)

Extract Crisis
Spider-Infected Invade Manhattan (F, 17)
Paranoia Pummels Populace (K, 16)
Skrulls Infiltrate World Leadership (J, 20)

The Roster does exactly what was referred to above: have as many VPs on the table as possible and try to score them out as fast as possible. It keeps a bit more of the fighty Web Warriors in than standard probably, but that is down to personal taste.

That's it for today! Next Up: Winter Guard

Cheers from Germany!
