The Pros and Cons of dual affiliating

A unique factor in the roster system of MCP is, that you have the ability to have more than one playable faction in a single roster. We call that dual affiliating (sometimes even triple like Mike DeLuca did at LVO in January).  Today I want to take a deep dive at the Pros and Cons of doing just that and the different approaches to it, including not doing it at all and also taking two or more leaders of a single faction in your roster and how that impacts the list.  1. Mono Affiliation with a single leader  This is probably the way most lists are created at least at the start and how I personally most often build mine. The advantages here are that you know beforehand what your leadership will be in any given game and can build a game plan around that leadership from character selection to crisis cards and TTCs. It's also a good way to go if you want to get your Longshanks badges for X games with a given affiliation. Another aspect on the Pro collum of Mono Affiliati...

3 theme hits and misses from AMG

Will Shick and Will Pagani always say that theme is the most important part when designing a character. And I fully agree with that. I think of the 206 characters currently in the game they have a hit quote of above 90%. Today I want to focus on characters that are good on the table and either fail to represent the character on the board or do an especially good job at it: (Click on the pictures to enhance them) Classic Iron Man is a very good 3 threat Backpoint sitter. He's tough, offers good control and even good damage potential for his threat level. What he isn't, is a character that you'd feel behaves like Iron Man does when you see him in the Comics, Animated series or MCU.  The Realisation of Ant-Man is absolutely fantastic. He may not sit at the very top of the power curve but he's good at his job and much more important: he's super fun to play because he does exactly what you'd expect Ant-Man to do. Constantly changing size and zooming around the batt...

May 2025 card updates reaction

The long wait is finally over and we've got the 2025 character updates in hand.  Edit: We've known since Adepticon that only models that re release in 2025 had a chance of being in this update. Look at the re release schedule to see who might get touched next year.  Let's go through them one by one.  Click on the images to enlarge them or just get the file yourself from AMGs website.  As we've known from the HPP interview Shick and Pagani had Bullseye's Gainer was reduced to range 3. Heavily restricting his overall usefulness. He's still good but I already preferred Rocket and that has only increased now. Bob is also even more of an alternative for him now, too. Not nice for die hard Bullseye fans but a good move for overall game balance.  Maybe the biggest update of all here. Strange gains a Pierce on a Block on his Builder (nice since that will also give you a power) and Eye of Agamotto works for Dodges now too. The heal has also been increased to Range...

Stats: Mutant Weekender Hunt for Weapon M

Welcome to a special stats article about the London single person event Mutant Weekender: The Hunt for Weapon M. Event and Across the Bifrost co-host Dr. Norbert asked me for this and who could ever say no to that man?  (I know the updates came today and there's definitely going to be an article on those soon but I need a little more time to digest those).  The Weekenders have a special format where there's a big swiss tournament on Saturday and based on your performance in that you get into an 8 person pod on Sunday. Where you can completely change your roster if you'd like.  Since that makes it a bit hard to get the full overview about every game played I'm going to focus on the Saturday and the Top 8 pod. (Click on the images to enlarge them) Asgard is far from dead and here almost has double the players than the three next most popular in Servants of the Apocalypse, Avengers and Web Warriors (none of those three are a surprise).  Four players each for Brot...

Hot Take: Avalanche, Exodus and Lady Mastermind

Not the news I was hoping for today but news nonetheless:  (Click on the images to enlarge them) Avalanche looks sweet to be honest. He's not in the Realm of the top end 3's even compared to recent releases like Karnak and especially Gorgon but Landslide is a fantastic ability. It's really what you're picking him up for. Reactively destroying terrain is also great in Magneto. But he's probably best played in a very wide Mystique team where he can be the last activation and just guaranteed push someone off a secure. Is he splash worthy? Maybe. If you need a 3 with guaranteed control he can be your man while being at least a bit tougher than Ghost-Spider. His model is also A+.  We now got the confirmation that nothing changes on the backside for Exodus. Which is nice as a total of 14 HP with his multiple ways of healing makes him very hard to get off the board. Which nice as he's got a great sculpt you're not mad at having on the table for a long time. Many ...
