Unexpectedly AMG graced us with a new Panel to Play. Let's see what Man-Thing brings to the table:
Wow. Ted appears to be: very very good. While his offense isn't particularly impressive range 3 on his medium base is pretty decent. Where he really shines is in the superpowers department. Being able to place himself and/or allies from Range 3 into Range 3 of his or their current location is beyond incredible for a 3 threat he can move his team around the board like noone else. And then Man-Things touch is superb, too. Whenever he deals or takes damage the attacker/ his target gets incinerated. Everyone that attacks him basically automatically hexed for this attack making his 3/3/4 defenses much better than they look at first sight. Add in Healing Factor 2 and immunity to Stun and Hex and Man-Thing might just qualify as the least desirable target in the game. Which does cause a bit of a problem for him because he'll be extremely power starved. He is gonna be a fantastic extract carrier for Midnight Sons though.
He's also a Defender per the 2025 timeline document, where he struggles to pay for Strange leadership but does like the Daredevil rerolls to have his attacks connect better for extra power.
Bump obviously helps him in Sons though once again that taxes his probably already low power generation.
We do get a line of Elsa's Leadership in his P2P and it appears to be like King T's just that when you push the enemy character into another enemy character the one getting pushed into takes a damage. I sincerely hope it's not that because Sons don't have a lot of pushes available to them.
This card is very hard to evaluate on first read. It has immense potential to basically be an AoE stagger for every enemy character within 3 of Man-Thing but could in practice also be much less useful than it reads. This simply has to be tested on the board before I can rate it.
Overall Ted is a character I was already excited for and his stat card has only increased that. I was very surprised to see him being a 3 but I'm definitely not mad at what he get for that 3 points of threat.
Cheers from Germany 🍻
