Predicting future four character packs




Asmodee have just announced two new four character packs which combine most of the existing Guardians of the Galaxy characters into two packs: the Affiliation pack with Star-Lord, Rocket, Groot and Cosmic Ghost Rider. The last one may seem odd at first but he and Star-Lord were single model packs and they combine to bring all the affiliated TTCs with them. The other pack is the "Galaxy's Deadliest" character pack with Nebula, Gamora, Drax and Ronan. This simply joins their packs into one bigger one.

Why does Asmodee (I'm sure it's them and not AMG themselves) do this? Because it uses store space more efficiently but more than anything else: to have the translated versions of the characters out. Now I'm not so sure about Spain and France but I can say that the competitive scene (all 10 of us 🙈😫) in Germany and Austria couldn't care less about German translations but that having everything translated into your native language is important for more casual players and increases the popularity and accessibility of the game a lot. It is often also a requirement for shops to even offer the product. 

With the why out of the way let's see which packs I think will come in the future (so that I can say I told you so when they get announced 😂). Characters I have considered here are those who came out before the Earth's Mightiest Core Set and who aren't available in an affiliation pack yet, as I guess those will be translated as they are sooner or later. 

Starting with the obvious ones, where existing packs will just be joined into one bigger one:


Asgard: 

Angela, Enchantress, Skurge and Heimdall

"Across the Bifrost" character pack. 

Enchantress could be changed for Beta Ray Bill here for a reason you'll find out later below. 

Update: original idea confirmed for Q2 2025. Just the name is different: Warriors of Asgard

Inhumans: 

Black Bolt, Medusa, Lockjaw, Crystal 

Might even get a reprint of Inhuman Queen and will be the affiliation pack. 


Winter Guard: 

Crimson Dynamo, Darkstar, Ursa Major, Red Guardian 

Another clear cut affiliation pack. 


Convocation: 

Doctor Strange, Sorcerer Supreme, Clea, Ancient One, Baron Mordo

Once again an affiliation pack. 


Web Warriors: 

Amazing Spider-Man, Black Cat, Spider-Woman, Agent Venom

Will probably not be called an affiliation pack as that already exists even if this here would meet the criteria for that name as it includes a leader.

So it will be named something spidery character pack instead.

X-Force: 

Cable, Domino, X-23, Honey Badger

Affiliation pack 

Update: confirmed for Q4 2025


Brotherhood: 

Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, Pyro, the Blob

"M-Day" character pack. 


SHIELD (Invaders): 

Nick Fury and the Howling Commandos, Steve Rogers, Captain America, The Original Human Torch 

"The Invaders" character pack. 



These here are bit more speculative, as they often split up existing packs:


Defenders: 

Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Punisher

The fourth member is debatable here and might be a bigger solo pack mini like Hulk or Ghost Rider but I have a different idea for those. 

Either Affiliation pack or "Marvel Knights" character pack. 

Update: not quite correct. It's going to be a unique five character affiliation pack containing Doctor Strange, Wong, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and Daredevil. 

Midnight Sons: 

Blade, Moon Knight, Doctor Voodoo, Ghost Rider

Affiliation pack.

Update: officially revealed to be this pack exactly coming out April 25th. 


Hydra: 

Red Skull, Master of Hydra, Baron Strucker, Arnim Zola, Taskmaster 

Affiliation pack 


Criminal Syndicate /Spider-Foes: 

Kingpin, Rhino, Mysterio, Carnage (not CS affiliated)

"Street level Negotiations" character pack. 

Update: Q2 2025 Sees the release of the Criminal Syndicate Affiliation Pack which contains Kingpin, MODOK, Hood and Bullseye.

Criminal Syndicate: 

Shadowland Daredevil, Elektra, Klaw, M'Baku

Affiliation Pack. 


X-Men/Brotherhood: 

Emma Frost, Rogue, Gambit, Jean Grey (not BH affiliated)

"Playing both sides" character pack (this is a joke name and doesn't fit Jean at all)

Update: Rogue and Gambit are part of the new X-Men starter set releasing Q3 2025 that doubles as a Brotherhood of Mutants starter set. 

Servants of the Apocalypse: 

Magik, Colossus, Mr. Sinister, Cassandra Nova

"Four Horsemen" character pack update l forgot that I was planning on having Psylocke in here. She'd replace Cassandra Nova. 


SHIELD: 

Nick Fury, Hawkeye, War Machine, Winter Soldier 

Affiliation pack. 

Cabal: 

Sin, Viper, Bullseye, Hood

"???" Character pack 

Update: Bullseye and Hood are part of the Criminal Syndicate Affiliation Pack. 

Avengers: 

Captain America (Sam), Vision, Ant-Man, Wasp

"All new all different" character pack


Black Order: 

Thanos, Black Swan, Supergiant 

"Inevitable" character pack 


A-Force: 

She-Hulk, Squirrel Girl, Gwenpool, Black Widow, Agent of SHIELD 

Affiliation pack


And finally we have the most unlikely ones: 

Sentinels: 

Sentinel Prime MK4, Sentinel MK4, Sentinel MK4 

Affiliation pack. It's more likely they will get a re-realse in their current packs though. 


Cabal: 

Malekith, Ulik, Enchantress (if Bill is replacing her in the Asgard pack) Update: if Cassandra Nova is replaced by Psylocke in the Servants of the Apocalypse pack like seen above she could slot in here to get this pack to 4 characters. 

"War of the Realms" character pack 


Defenders: 

Doctor Strange, Wong, Hulk 

"Back to the roots" character pack

Update: Strange and Wong are part of the Defenders affiliation pack. 

Characters left out: 

Currently these characters would not be in any of my predicted new joined packs:

Dormammu, Hulkbuster, Juggernaut, OG MODOK, and Immortal Hulk would all be likely candidates to get translated version re-released in singles packs, but MODOK 2, Omgea Red and Ms. Marvel could very well end up in a pack I haven't forseen somewhere.

Affiliation Overview: Defenders (updated)

  Why should you play the affiliation  Defenders are a giant affiliation containing both the more mystic focused Defenders of Doctor Strange and also the Marvel Knights which made up the Netflix show Defenders.  On the board Defenders have a super deep roster with a tonne of great characters and some variety in play style.  How to start the affiliation Update: In Q2 2025 AMG releases the Defenders affiliation pack which uniquely comes with five models in Doctor Strange, Wong, Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. You have to pick this pack up first and absolutely should.  After that I would first pick up Shang-Chi and Silver Sable followed by Hulk and then Namor and Black Panther, Chosen of Bast. You have your core very much there.The affiliation is very deep and has a lot of good characters but with those mentioned you have your probably most used models in hand already. Affiliation Overview: Midnight Sons (updated rewrite)

Why should you play the affiliation? These are Marvels best Earth based characters. This is a definite objective fact and not just my personal feeling.  They also offer a wide variety of play styles and affiliated models.  How to start the affiliation Update:  Blade, Moon Knight, Doctor Voodoo and Ghost Rider will be combined into a MS affiliation pack, with their current stat cards in all four langues and new art. It releases in April.  Your first purchase here is probably still Blade (leader) and Moon Knight but you could also now start with Elsa Bloodstone (leader) and Man-Thing. Both are good value boxes as both come with a leader and a good affiliated 3 threat. So in the end it's probably best to just get both. Next up you'll want to look at getting a high threat model for which you have 3 options that all have their unique strengths and reasons to be picked.
