My Adepticon Predictions

 

Welcome back to SGP. Today I give you my predictions to which new characters will be shown off at the AMG Panel at Adepticon and my reasoning for it. 

I'll of course cover the event in detail after the fact but this is a fun little project to warm us up and see just how far from the truth I was. 

Let's start: 

Full stat card reveals: 

Phoenix and Phoenix Unleashed. 

Here we get the confirmation (again) that she is a transformation character and will see the reserve keyword appear on a stat card for the first time as Phoenix Unleashed will spawn Grunts after she transforms. 

We'll get at least three more reveals of the front side of the stat cards for the June releases. I'm guessing it's going to be Exodus, Avalanche and Ronin but it could be any of the six. Highly unlikely to see all of them though. Probably a TTC from each pack will be revealed alongside them. 

We're also going to see them fully painted for the first time. 


New Characters 

Spider-Verse pack. 

We already know that Spider-Man 2099 is going to be in the pack and that there will be more inside. I'm predicting: Spider-Ham, Spider-Punk and Silk. All of them showed up on TTCs already. 


New Mutants pack 

It will contain Wolfsbane, Cannonball, Danny Moonstar and Magma. And make the New Mutants an actual affiliation. 


Sebastian Shaw 

With the changes to Hellfire Club having an actual affiliation list it is only a matter of time for the Black King to show up and bring some affiliated TTCs with him. 


Nimrod 

We know he's in the pipeline and Sentinels are in desperate need of help. 


Scorpion

Being the main villain in Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man only means he's gotten more famous lately but it's already very obvious that he's in the pipeline for the game appearing on multiple TTCs and the box art for Just the Parker Luck. 


The Fantastic Four and Doctor Doom 

Yeah you can all finally stop asking after this panel. They might not come out until Q1 or 2 2026 but the FF and Doom will have finally been greenlit by Marvel with the movie coming out shortly (and yes that is the reason they aren't already. Marvel has to greenlight every character AMG wants to use first. There's a reason the FF also don't show up on any TTCs for example when many characters not yet in the game do). 


Shard and Forge

Two new members for the X-Force and Forge will be confirmed to be the second leader. 


Bastion 

He's only going to show up as an art piece at the very end of the panel (or the MCP Part at least) and he's going to be the model in the 2026 X-Men 97 focused crisis card pack. 



Single Person starter sets 

We learned at the trade show GAMA that there will be single person starter sets containing some reprinted characters as well as dice and range/ movement tools. Shown off, without spoiling their full contents were X-Men and Spider-Foes. I think it's a pretty safe bet to expect Brotherhood of Mutants and Web Warriors to be in the mix for this kind of deal box at the very least. Maybe even more. 


What I don't expect: 

Updates to existing characters. Ben Ransom said those would happen "at an event you'd expect something like that to happen" which to me sounds more like Ministravaganza as that always brought the big changes.

    Where do you think FF and Doom will land in affiliation? Are you predicting they will be in Avengers and Cabal respectively, or do you think there will be FF and FF Villain affiliations (maybe some sort of Cosmic Conquerers affiliation for FF villains, which would be thematically appropriate for Blastar or Annihilus?)

      I think FF would be their own Affiliation. She-Hulk, Medusa and maybe one or more of the Peter Parkers could be affiliated with them. Doom is more difficult. He's sure to have the peerless keyword. Cabal is definitely possible but maybe also a new Affiliation.

      Once they are in the game (which is a question of when not if) there's a high chance for that.

  Why should you play the affiliation  Are you a somewhat of a scientist yourself? Do you like crushing arachnids? Affiliation Overview: Defenders (2026 Update)

  Why should you play the affiliation  Defenders are a giant affiliation containing both the more mystic focused Defenders of Doctor Strange and also the Marvel Knights which made up the Netflix show Defenders.  On the board Defenders have a super deep roster with a ton of great characters and some variety in play style.  How to start the affiliation The necessary first buy is the Defenders Affiliation pack, containing Doctor Strange, Wong, Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist.  Next I would look at the Hard to Hit character pack with Namor, Shang-Chi, Silver Sable and Black Panther, Chosen of Bast, who are all affiliated. The August Update part 1

  I don't think we'll need an intro for these 😅 here are my takes on part 1 of the character updates:  Abomination :  injured side art update only  Adam Warlock :  Injured side art update only  Agent Venom :  Already a favorite character to play of mine the increase to above average 7/7 makes him an excellent piece in all of his (many) affiliated homes.  A  Amazing Spider-Man :  ASM has already been very hard to take off the board and 7/7 makes him nigh invincible. His problem has always been list lackluster damage output and he's got no news there.  B  Ancient One :  7/6 might make her more interesting now but she struggles with competition in the 4 threat slot where Defenders have a giant pool of options. She could have a comeback in Convocation maybe.  B- Angel :  Angel already had the markings of a great objective runner and with respectable 6/6 now he is far better at fulfilling that role.  B+ Angela :...
