Who is actually good at M'Kraan? (Stats)

Since the release of the War of Kings crisis pack and the subsequent rotation of the tournament legal crisis cards M'Kraan Crystal Gets Heroes Home has been the most popular secure in the game, by quite a margin. But who is actually good at it?

I looked at the stats for the crisis specifically and marked the dates as April 2nd to August 1st. That gave everyone a bit of time to experiment with the new crisis cards after their initial release and should show us some useful information.

1776 event games have been played on M'Kraan during that time. Over 500 more than the next highest in Wedding Party.

They only make up a tiny amount of the games played but SHIELD, especially under Namor, absolutely loves this. They have become super mobile and add their core strength of long range fire power.

Inhumans are just fantastic at everything at the moment and on a Pay to Flip even Maximus can shine as a leader as the risk of being placed off of a secure is much lower.

Spider-Foes really love M'Kraan Crystal which is a bit of a surprise but ultimately they are a good P2F team anyway and being tough and mobile is a perfect combination here. Carnage also loves it because it doesn't need a specific defense stat and he has loads of targets close by.

Apocalypse is pretty much the King of MCP in 2025 and while he's not the absolute top dog on M'Kraan he and his Servants do enjoy the crisis a lot.

Hydra making the top 5 here is interesting. I think it's more down to a good Strucker player than to the faction really standing out as being great on it. If anything I would have expected Red Skull to be great here with the additional power he grants for flips and his Grunts being very good at flipping the points.

Black Order fans rejoice! In stark contrast to their overall stats Black Order performed pretty well on this crisis.

For the Criminal Syndicate both Shadowland Daredevil and MODOK 2 enjoy M'Kraan, with the former being an absolute super start on the crisis. Naturally Kingpin hates it.

Web Warriors certainly don't want to bring it themselves when there's much wider maps in the rotation but forcing them on it isn't a recipe for instant success either. And with 2099 coming soon they'll only get better on it.

Wakanda is pretty much fine on the crisis. Defacto leader M'Baku is perfectly average while both leader versions of T'Challa, King T and the overall fallen from grace classic Black Panther, appear to like it a lot on their limited games. Killmonger, Usurper hasn't enjoyed a lot of success but that's probably more down to him and his Leadership not being super great anyway.

Weapon X are also very much fine on M'Kraan. They tend to bring a lot of bodies to the board to flip points and make the flip harder for the opponent. And they like a brawl so the points being quite close to each other is beneficial for them, too.

For Legion of the Lost it very much comes down to the actual composition of the roster. If it includes characters with multiple power per Power Phase that's a good start to be good on M'Kraan. Mephisto himself beings the game with 2 power and is very mobile so he ends up being a good flipper himself especially as it is not reliant on his pedestrian physical defense.

Jane led Asgard is an absolute force on M'Kraan and is close to the top leaders on the crisis. Asgard as a whole is dragged down by Loki Leadership being well below 50% though.

Sam Wilson posts top tier numbers on M'Kraan. I think it's probably more about his leadership being a great counter to attrition teams that often like the crisis but Sam himself certainly is a good character to have on the crisis no matter if he leads or is just there as an affiliated 3 threat. The bulk of M'Kraan games by Avengers have of course been led by Steve 1 and it's been pretty even overall. They definitely have a giant tool box to build specifically to be good on the crisis. Steve 3, the leadership I have by far the worst record against, doesn't seem to work well here. Paying power for the leadership and the flips might tax your characters too much.

Always regarded as the, or at least one of, the best P2F team X-Men do like the crisis under Professor X (expected) and surprisingly Storm for whom the shape appears to be too close and not really favourable. Considering Storms overall numbers are pretty dire at the moment it's strange to see her being so great here on the crisis most Storm players don't want to bring. Cyclops is far less successful here than the other two. That's mostly the case on any secure but it's even more noticeable here and absolutely tanks the numbers for the affiliation.

Malekith is apparently a monster on this crisis. He always loved it's predecessor SWORD Base (partly because it was 15 threat) and seems to have brought his success to M'Kraan as well. He has multiple power, is fast and likes a fight that is somewhat in the middle but not as clumped up as Fisk and Wedding Party. He might not be the very best here but its certainly his best secure. None of the other Cabal leaders seems to enjoy it however, all posting negative though not terrible records here.

Convocation, the best affiliation in July 2025, perform better here than I would have expected, though still with a negative record.

Defenders played a lot of games on the crisis, third most so far, which probably means they do bring it themselves but seeing as both leaders are below 50% here (at least not by a lot) they might want to reconsider.

New Mutants also have a negative record but it's honestly closer to 50% than I would have thought. They are pretty fragile on average so the crisis being pretty in the middle probably isn't what they want themselves.

On the other hand I would have thought Dormammu would do better here. He's pretty good at flipping the points himself while probably being able to shot anyone on any of the secures the threat is high enough that you can bring enough people to deal with thim though.

Guardians of the Galaxy are pretty bad at the crisis despite playing it a bunch. I would absolutely not consider it for my Guardians personally. It's much too close where all our range advantage is immediately gone.

Brotherhood of Mutants is overall not great at the crisis but Mystique is especially terrible. It's most likely gonna be a bad day if you only have her as a leader option in your roster and your opponent gets it (you obviously wouldn't bring it yourself).

Midnight Sons seems to bring the the crisis themselves judging by the number of games played (or it got pulled into them a lot) but should really hate it. Neither leader wants P2Fs as it's a double power strain with both leaderships costing power already and here you can't really use Bumps speed increase all that well and it might be to close together for Elsa (who is struggling no matter the crisis).

A-Force haven't been able to carry their Adepticon win into sustained success overall and M'Kraan isn't helping them turn that around.

It's no surprise that Thralls of Dracula aren't great on the crisis as Dracula hates moving and flipping points himself.

Winter Guard also struggle with mobility and many of them also aren't great at generating power to flip the points.

X-Force have not been especially good overall lately but on M'Kraan it's even worse.

Sentinels and Hellfire Club are both awaiting their 2026 updates. That should help both.

And finally Unaffiliated is certainly not the way to play the crisis.

That's it for today. Tell me if these kinds of crisis focuses are interesting and you want more or not.

Cheers from Germany 🍻

Affiliation Overview: Web Warriors

Why should you play the affiliation  Peter Parker is the single most popular character in the world. Miles and Gwen share between them the focus of the two best superhero movies of all time and are extremely popular characters in their own rights.  On the table Web Warriors are a supreme objective play team building off of their core of incredible 3 threats. They are big enough nowadays to offer different approaches too though.  How to start the affiliation  Untypically I don't think getting the affiliation pack is always the best way to start here. While Miles and Gwen are absolute core models to the affiliation, 4 threat Peter Parker will very rarely (if ever) see the table and Venom is decent but really up to personal taste. And seeing how the only real benefit of the affiliation pack is getting the additional Peter for free you can really decide if that's worth it for you. If you own core set 1 you already have the character and if you own core set 2 you h...

Affiliation Overview: Defenders (updated)

Why should you play the affiliation  Defenders are a giant affiliation containing both the more mystic focused Defenders of Doctor Strange and also the Marvel Knights which made up the Netflix show Defenders.  On the board Defenders have a super deep roster with a tonne of great characters and some variety in play style.  How to start the affiliation Update: In Q2 2025 AMG releases the Defenders affiliation pack which uniquely comes with five models in Doctor Strange, Wong, Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. You have to pick this pack up first and absolutely should.  After that I would first pick up Shang-Chi and Silver Sable followed by Hulk and then Namor and Black Panther, Chosen of Bast. You have your core very much there. The affiliation is very deep and has a lot of good characters but with those mentioned you have your probably most used models in hand already. Also all of the affiliated TTCs. Just note that Pentagrams of Falafel (let me have fun with t...

Affiliation Overview: Midnight Sons (updated rewrite)

Why should you play the affiliation? These are Marvels best Earth based characters. This is a definite objective fact and not just my personal feeling.  They also offer a wide variety of play styles and affiliated models.  How to start the affiliation Update:  Blade, Moon Knight, Doctor Voodoo and Ghost Rider will be combined into a MS affiliation pack, with their current stat cards in all four langues and new art. It releases in April.  Your first purchase here is probably still Blade (leader) and Moon Knight but you could also now start with Elsa Bloodstone (leader) and Man-Thing. Both are good value boxes as both come with a leader and a good affiliated 3 threat. So in the end it's probably best to just get both. Next up you'll want to look at getting a high threat model for which you have 3 options that all have their unique strengths and reasons to be picked. The biggest threat investment but also by far and large his best home comes in the Immortal Hulk. Ghost ...
