July 26 Affiliation Stats

Welcome to the July stats article. Unexpectedly this wasn't the first month after the big update but (hopefully) now finally the last one without it...

As always we go over All Events AE first and Rated Singles Events RSE second.

You can find June's stats here

Inhumans reign supreme in AE and Queen Medusa adds another surprise in winning over 3/4s of her games in June.

Hydra often has some good months sprinkled across the year and July has seen them as successful as they've basically ever been winning them second overall.

While Namor continues to be a problem Nick Fury and Invincible Iron Man also more than delivered in their very few games for SHIELD.

In Wakanda King T has taken the crown as main leader and as usual he's also the most successful. I too currently play a pure King T leadership Wakanda list and it's certainly a lot of fun.

Wait what? Winter Guard in the top 5??? They patiently await their re release pack but seem to be getting on with the new Challenger Rotation quite well anyway.

New Mutants often bounce between near the top and near the bottom from month to month. July was one of the good ones for them.

Kingpin is strong as he always is but MODOK had a good month as well (in very few games of course). Shadowland Daredevil has lost a lot of players it seems.

ASM is rocking the word for the Web Warriors with an impressive 66% win rate while Web of the Spider-Verse sinks below 50%. Miles is Miles so lots of games and a well above 50% rate as usual.

Servants of the Apocalypse have dipped a lot in popularity and made it only barely to over 50%.

Guardians on the other hand are still super popular and sit comfortably slightly above 50%.

After their perfect June Avengers, still with a very high amount of games, has fallen back to earth except for Sam you is very close to the sun and his wings aren't made out of wax. 72% win rate in 83 games is definitely not a fluke.

Hellfire Club will definitely explode in play rate when we finally get the updates to fantastic sculpts Shadow King, Omega Red and Mister Sinister but prove they can get to over 50% even before those.

Red Skull 1 was great and Red Skull 3 was below 40%. Wait what? Sin was also better than Malekith (well technically) and Kang, who had the most Cabal games, was great as well. So in a weird turn of events their usually most reliable leader has dragged them down to "only" 50%.

Mighty Avengers have established themselves as a decently popular and successful affiliation in their first half year of being part of the game.

I'm not 100% sure but 38 games played definitely looks like the lowest Thralls of Dracula has ever gotten. Very close to 50/50 in those few.

Dormammu and his Dark Dimension falls to below 50% for the first time since his November 25 buff. But is wasn't far and he kept his usual pace of almost always 100 games played.

Brotherhood of Mutants had a very good month especially from Magneto who made a rare trip to above 50%.

Sentinels won the popularity contest with over 400 games placed and Bastion, who has almost all of those games came close to winning half of his though Sentinel Prime could not help him a whole lot.

Defenders remain popular but well below 50% overall.

Storm has had a big resurgence and it immediately shows in play rate and win rate. But on the other hand Professor X, who carried the X-Men through the War of Kings has dipped a lot. Cyclops basically as always had a hard time winning but was used a whole lot less.

Weapon X was barely played at all. And not very successful at that.

Convocation has had a big down month and seems to not like the new rotation a whole lot. Play rate was also very low.

After a very strong June Asgard was back closer to the bottom in July with none of the leaders having especially much success.

A-Force also had a very small number of games played and not many wins in these few games.

Spider-Foes have been lingering in the bottom of the standings for quite some time now and it doesn't seem there's going to be a lot of change to that in the near future either.

42 games played is by far the least in a month that I can remember for X-Force and the low play rate could also not improve on the low win rate.

For the first time ever Elsa Bloodstone was the better Midnight Sons leader but sadly that doesn't mean she was much improved but rather that Blade had the most terrible month I can remember him ever having.

A low amount of games even by the standard of Legion of the Lost and a second to last finish means it was not a good month for them.

Thanos and the Black Order overall could only win about a 3rd of their games leading to a last place finish once again.

Rated Singles Events

What?! Winter Guard makes a surprise visit to number 1 in RSE (granted in only 30 games played).

Hydra also had even better numbers in RSE than their already great AE July.

Inhumans have the most games in the top 3 and only the bad month for Maximus holds them back a little.

SHIELD, to me, is the best and most reliable Affiliation right now. That could (and should) change with hopeful fixes to Namor (who is getting a re release so has a much higher chance of bigger Updates than the average character) soon but it remains to be seen. (For anyone still wondering: his ability should simply also be called Strategic Genius to kill the double bubble).

Good success in few games played for New Mutants.

Criminal Syndicate was even better in RSE than in AE and the same two leaders (with Kingpin shouldering the biggest load) were their driving factors.

I'm sad to report that it was me who held back King T under M'Baku here as I lost my league game with him, which as my opponent pointed out afterwards, I would have won with a simple move of Okoye... He still finished strong and as did Wakanda overall.

ASM was on a tear this month and Miles as the old reliable while Web of the Spider-Verse struggled in RSE, too.

Decent run for Hellfire Club. Im very eager to get back to them once the updates finally hit...

Below 100 games and just barely making the top 10 is definitely a down month for the Servants of the Apocalypse. I feel players are basically just bored with them at the moment.

Red Skull 1 beat his 3rd version in RSE as well but the latter was a whole lot better here than in AE. Overall a decent month for Cabal.

Their core set counterpart of the Avengers had a below average month overall with Sam being the big and shining exception.

A very good month for Adam Warlock paired with an OK performance from Star-Lord combines to a decent overall for the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Thor showed he can produce when it matters with almost all of his wins for Asgard coming in RSE.

Below 100 games, below 50% win rate. I did not expect to basically ever see that for Dark Dimension after Dormammus buff.

Sentinels were the most played Affiliation in RSE as well with Bastion alone beating out every other affiliation except for Avengers (and there it was close). He did well with an exactly even win rate but sadly Sentinel Prime could not help get over the edge but instead dragged the Affiliation overall to just slightly under. But it is definitely clear that you need to have a plan against Bastion in any competitive event as it's very likely you'll meet one.

Storm is back to old glory! The dark days of the War of Kings are passed her and X-Men Gold is the clear way to go again. Theres a great Episode of Variant Cover (on the Gamestore Guardians feed) with Simon Vodkablitz who does a great job of explaining why that is. Professor X was still taken more often but far less successful and Scott is there to keep the overall expectations for the Affiliation low or something... (Poor Scott).

Exactly 100 games played in RSE for Mighty Avengers and the less popular home for Blue Marvel was close but couldn't quite reach 50% this month. I'm sure they'll be back above it next month as they've been for the majority of their still pretty short lifetime.

22 games played and 10 wins (2 apperantly leaderless) for Weapon X. Don't know what to say about that that hasn't been said countless times before.

11 times people have chosen to go Unaffiliated in RSE. I don't understand why but it worked out 5 times which is more than it should for me but I'm probably just wrong on that.

Sadly Magneto could not carry his AE results over to RSE and Brotherhood of Mutants did not have the best month here.

Doctor Strange almost got to 50% in RSE but Daredevil had an absolutely terrible month for the Defenders.

The only surprise for Spider-Foes is that there were more Doc Ock than Green Goblin games but the latter did way better as is basically usual.

13 games for Thralls of Dracula is the fewest for them ever.

X-Force has also finally lost its loyal followers.

Speaking of loosing the die hard fan crowd. Convocation usually sits at around 80 RSE games per month. So 20 is very very low.

Midnight Sons are (rightfully so) always popular as the clear objective coolest earth based Affiliation but man had they a terrible month.

I'm sorry I forgot to expand the leaders for Black Order and I can't replicate the data from when I took the screenshot again. Just expect that Thanos was bad and Corvus was worse. Shouldn't be too far from the truth...

Legion of the Lost won the popularity contest against Thralls of Dracula for the first time! Yeah it's 14 to 13 but they need every cause for celebration.

A-Force finished dead last in July in RSE so the buffs can't come quick enough for them.

That's it for today.

Affiliation Overview: Spider-Foes (2026 update)

Why should you play the affiliation  Are you a somewhat of a scientist yourself? Do you like crushing arachnids? Do you love making overly complicated plans and see them ruined by a teenager?  Spider-Foes are a super fun faction, which boosts the best looking line of miniatures in the game and a very fun and unique play style with tricks and traps.  How to start the affiliation  As long as it's available you absolutely start with the Spider-Foes Starter set. It's the so gle best deal in MCP and probably all of tabletop wargaming.  The only characters you're missing out of the affiliation after that are:  Kingpin (available in the Criminal Syndicate Affiliation pack, which is a good additional pick up after the starter set)  Doctor Octopus (available in the Spider-Foes Affiliation Pack or Rivals Panel)  Doc Ock, Sinister Scientist (available in the Earth Mightiest Core Set, a good additional pick up if you need terrain) Venom (currently de f...

Affiliation Overview: Web Warriors

Why should you play the affiliation  Peter Parker is the single most popular character in the world. Miles and Gwen share between them the focus of the two best superhero movies of all time and are extremely popular characters in their own rights.  On the table Web Warriors are a supreme objective play team building off of their core of incredible 3 threats. They are big enough nowadays to offer different approaches too though.  How to start the affiliation  Untypically I don't think getting the affiliation pack is always the best way to start here. While Miles and Gwen are absolute core models to the affiliation, 4 threat Peter Parker will very rarely (if ever) see the table and Venom is decent but really up to personal taste. And seeing how the only real benefit of the affiliation pack is getting the additional Peter for free you can really decide if that's worth it for you. If you own core set 1 you already have the character and if you own core set ...

Ministravaganza 25 reactions

Wow Ministravaganza 25 did a lot in just 35 mins of MCP this year. Let's dive right in and see if my predictions were even close to correct:  1. Roadmap We're immediately starting out with a banger here. Everything on Iron Lads card is just very good. His builder has a "for every wild" trigger with slow and stun which are both great, his Gainer can push, his Spender can automatically reroll any number of dice, he can remove a damage or special condition for a single power, has a size 2 terrain throw and can reroll attackers dice (just for himself but still). He's an extremely well rounded 3 threat.  A.  The first ever 3 threat on a 65mm base! And oh my what a 3 threat that is. A good builder that can choose to be physical or energy is followed by a great spender that has a throw and an extract steal (not just drop but actually stealing) trigger, as well has a place, rerolls and damage reduction. He is confirmed to be a member of the Criminal Syndicate and will ...
