Hot Takes: Quasar and Moondragon

Finally!  Mystic Rapid Fire (but on a wild so pretty unreliable), a good Spender, Charge, her Version of Witty Banter, Shield Mind and a better than average (because it works against Mystic) Martial Artist. Heather Douglas is a good 3 threat. Flight, Medium Base and Medium Move make her fast too and 6/6 Stamina means she doesn't fall over dead too quick either.  I wouldn't immediately put the Mind Gem on her personally but that's definitely something to test out. It would fix her main problem which is Power generation but she might be to weak defensively to warrant being a 4 threat.  She is in Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers and Defenders and especially for the former she is a strong choice at 3 threat.  A-.  I think the card is only worth it when you have father and daughter Douglas on the board together as the combination of both effects seems worth the 4 power; for only one of them the cost is very steep.  B.  Just like her girlfriend Quasa...

How my ADHD affects me in MCP

At the end of last year I finally took the step to have myself diagnosed for ADHD and definitely not to my surprise have gotten it. This isn't a huge deal but does help me understand some of my own behavior better and try to be better about it.  How does it affect me playing and collecting MCP?  In many ways actually:  1. Collector's Fury My doctor calls it the hobby graveyard. It's the physically hurting need to own all the options available in the game because what if that situation arises and I don't have that character in my collection? Seeing as I want to go to WTC this year and have my yearly festival in the summer (both being big events I have to spent a lot of money on) I have to cut my hobby funds shorter than in years before. So I try to make it a point not to buy just everything that comes out. But it's very hard for me.  I often feel the need to buy something and spending way too much time checking every shop daily to see if there are any sales or ...

The unbalance between how I want to play and what characters I like

Eagerly awaiting Adam Warlock and all the other new releases I'm currently feeling a bit "list homeless" (credit to Mike DeLuca for that term). In our German TTS League I'm playing Professor Xavier X-Men with a weird list that's mostly built for fun and doesn't aim to win the event (but going 3:2 in the 5 rounds would be nice). I play it because I think Xavier has one of the most fun leadership in the game. But I don't enjoy playing him himself and some of the core characters in that list all that much. On the other hand I do like the way it plays, which is a secure first scenario kind of game plan, but packs enough of a punch to fight it out if necessary.  To bring this to a point: I'm in the mood for a Type 1 kind of team. That's easy isn't it? Web Warriors, Kingpin Criminals and Hellfire Club are right there. Yeah they are and (at least the former two) they are really good at that game plan and should be the picks. But I somehow just don...

Hot Takes: Adam Warlock and his leadership

AMG has given me personally the present of finally revealing the Adam Warlock Guardians of the Galaxy leadership after teasing it in March (!) of 2025 already. Alongside the previously unknown injured side of Adam Warlock. Let's take a look:  The only change on the injured side is an additional point of Stamina. While his 3/4/3 defenses seem pretty low for a 7 or potentially 8 (in theory even 9 if you want to force it) threat we've seen on Thanos just how much impact Being of Immeasurable Power has. Combine it with the Bounded Soul Gem (see below) it's going to be incredibly hard to get rid of Adam. His offensive output still seems pretty low for his threat but keeping his team on their feet seems to be more of his focus anyway (fittingly for the Avatar of Life).  He does seem very power hungry but having recall for himself and his friends on his card is pretty impressive. A range 2 place that he'll be able to pay for easily each round as he'll have at least two p...

Hot Takes: Valkyrie and Elendil/ Warriors Three

Sorry for the delay on these, I was away for work the last couple of days and at the start of this year the MCP topics seem to just pile up on top of each other. But let's get into the meat of the article:  We have seen the healthy side for Valkyrie and Elendil at the Ministravaganza already and now got confirmation that they are exactly the same on the back side. I remain quite positive about the duo as they seem very fast with good attacks and superpowers. Defensively they aren't especially stellar with below average defenses and no defensive tech but hopefully Guardian of Valhalla will keep them on their hoofs.  In terms of Asgard leaderships I think they like Thors to add more healing to their innate and Loki, Prince of Lies (Loki 2) both more than Jane Fosters as the attack in Range 2 is probably the one you want to use the least. A defensive reroll outside of range 2 is a good thing for them though. So in the end all Asgard leaderships have value for Valkyrie and ...

Take aways from the 2026 Timelines Document

In the wides of the Web the 2026 timelines Document has been spotted and while I don't have a lot of interest in the format itself seeing as I'll absolutely never have a chance to play it (the intended way) myself there's still some conclusions to draw from it:  Affiliations for new characters:  Blue Marvel: Mighty Avengers (not listed in Defenders, though we have one precedent of a character having had different Affiliations in timelines in Killmonger 2) Spectrum: Mighty Avengers  Moondragon: Avengers, Defenders, Guardians of the Galaxy  Quasar: Guardians of the Galaxy  Adam Warlock: Guardians of the Galaxy  Valkyrie & Elendil: Asgard The Warriors Three: Asgard  Rescue: A-Force, Avengers, SHIELD  Iron Monger: Criminal Syndicate, Cabal Iron Lad: Unaffiliated (he'll be Young Avengers when they come out at the end of the year or whenever that's actually going to be) Kang, the Conquerer: Cabal (leadership)  New TTC and who I think th...

Hot Takes: Mighty Avengers affiliation list

Ben Ransom has dropped the Mighty Avengers affiliation list over the rules forum and we can finally start building lists now:  Characters (11) * Spectrum (4) Ant-Man (3) Black Panther, Chosen of Bast (3) Black Widow (2) Blue Marvel (5) Captain America (Sam Wilson) (3) Captain Marvel, Cosmic Avenger (5) Iron Man (3) Luke Cage (3) She-Hulk (6) Steve Rogers, Captain America (4) We of course start with Spectrum who is the Affiliations only leader with a really strong leadership on a very good character. You definitely don't mind playing her every game.  Ant-Man was already confirmed to get an update come Adepticon but he's already an interesting piece here. He doesn't need a lot of power for himself so he's going to be able to feed other characters well with power he'd usually gain per the leadership. Black Panther, Chosen of Bast is fast, has stealth and good attacks. He's just a solid model with no particular synergy with the leadership in my opinion.  Original...

Hot Takes: Spectrum

Some other content creators who got sent the Blue Marvel and Spectrum pack have been given the information about what was wrong with her card, which as it turns out is misprinted in the pack itself, so we can finally do our Hot Takes on her.  Monica brings a 3/4/4 6/6 defensive profile on a small base Long Move with flight and the Immunites to Bleed, Incinerate and Poison to the table, in a 4 threat package. That stat block is already on the higher end for a 4 and she also adds a "Reverse Pierce" innate superpower that can change an opposing success into a blank for each wild in her defense roll and giving her a power for every die changed that way. It's even better than Supreme Stranges version because Spectrums works against every attack type.  Offensively Monica had three different attacks, two being Gainers and one Spender. Gamma Strike is a Range 2, 6 dice physical attack with a wild Stun, after damage is resolved. It's fine. You certainly aren't mad to hav...

AtB Team Championship rosters revealed

The new year starts out with a giant tournament in London the coming weekend, from the Across the Bifrost Team Championship, hosted by Jaime and Norbert. The rosters for the event are locked now, so let's take a look:  The event hosts 24 five person teams, for a total of 120 players. Just like WTC you are limited to singleton characters across your team but TTCs and Crisis Cards aren't limited.  10 of 24 teams chose to not include the clear cut best affiliation in the game, Servants of the Apocalypse, in their team. But as weird as that sounds at first I think it's still understandable. You do need someone comfortable with piloting it and just picking the affiliation up for the event is probably a recipe for disaster.  Criminal Syndicate is always a safe pick and in a team format you can either throw them out first or pick a match up that should favor them so it's very understandable that half the teams chose to have a CS player.  Webs are hugely popular in Eu...
