February Affiliation Stats

Welcome to the February Affiliation Stats post. You probably know the drill by now: we start with All Events first and further down we have Rated Singles Events (RSE).

For last months stats check out the January article.

New Mutants take #1 with 40 wins in 70 games for a 57% win rate.

A very good month for Hydra who had success under all three leaders. Only 4 games but still interesting that Helmut Zemo leadership has been played at all.

The same can be said for SHIELD, but in way more games mostly under Namor.

Convocation have their signature almost exactly 100 games per month and are well above 50% once again.

Inhumans down and out after the Great Refuge ban? Not even close. Their play rate dropped a bit; their win rate did not really.

Still extremely popular and still very successful remain the Servants of Apocalypse.

Over 500 games played, with even Peter Parker reaching 107 which is well above many Affiliations can boost in total, and with above 50% win rates for all leaderships Web Warriors enjoyed an excellent month.

Dark Dimension are an absolute force to be reckoned with and have won 55% of their 245 games played.

Black Order back in business? Thanos has dominated in his 35 games and Corvus didn't drag the stats down as he often does.

A-Force get their newest member this week and have been doing well in February.

Ok my estimation, that I would be in the minority of liking Adam Warlock was astronomically wrong and he has 332 games played as leader already (and his leadership after only one game myself is already my favorite in the game) and Star-Lord adds another 325 for a game leading 664 Guardians of the Galaxy games in February. And while Peter couldn't quite reach the 50% mark, people are definitely having success with Adam Warlock.

Mighty Avengers are also very very popular with over 400 games and over 50% wins.

Criminal Syndicate led by Kingpin had a good month in games played and win rate, Shadowland Daredevil was perfectly average while MODOK and Klaw were subpar in their few games played.

An even 50/50 is a good outcome for Legion of the Lost who are often hard pressed to get close to that.

A decent month for Weapon X also going exactly 50% in their few games. But a far cry from their 70% win rate in 37 January games.

Defenders see an immense uptick in play rate and also overall success, especially under Doctor Strange.

Quite the comeback month for Jane and also Loki 2 led Asgard but a very disappointing one for classic Thor which does drag the affiliation below 50% in total.

Winter Guard, who I'm hopeful for seeing some updates for at Adepticon (they are scheduled for re release this year), can almost reach 50% in over 80 games played, which is more on the high end for the affiliation.

Sams absolutely dominant month was not enough to drag the Steves and Hulkbuster to above 50% overall for the Avengers. Steve 3 was all least fairly close, but Steve 1 continues to struggle in the current meta.

Unaffiliated almost got to 50%. I still would never play it but someone seems to have found a worthwhile list apparently.

Very high number of games for Magneto and Brotherhood of Mutants but Mystique was still the better leader, despite being played in way less games.

Cabal now sports no less than 5 Leaderships, more than any other Affiliation in the game. Kang, who isn't even actually released yet (I will get mine in the week from the 9th if all goes well...) was nowhere as popular and also not nearly as successful as Adam Warlock. I'm looking forward to trying a Kang list out as my side roster soon.
Sin going positive and being the best Cabal leader in February is a big surprise.

M'Baku, Wakandas defacto leader, had a rough month and it drags the affiliation down as a result.

We're all eagerly awaiting the Panel to Plays for the new Sentinels. Their play rate has dropped by about 50 games compared to January. But it's likely that even people who have had their Affiliation Pack delivered are waiting for the new wave to start putting them on the table (like me).

Hellfire Club is the Affiliation to watch out for after the (hopefully coming then) Adepticon character updates. Currently they are *Pat Dunford voice* fine.

X-Men still can't seem to find their footing in this meta. Cyclops specifically struggles a whole lot.

Having the best deal in tabletop gaming as their starting point is an easy reason to see why Spider-Foes were reasonably popular once again (though the numbers are honestly lower than I would have expected). It didn't really translate into a great amount of success though.

Coming off of the release of their Affiliation Pack X-Force get closer to 100 games played again but are still far removed from the 50% mark.

Balde had a comparably terrible month for his average and Elsa didn't help him out posting her, sadly pretty usual, below 40% numbers. The new crisis selection seems to really hurt the typical Midnight Sons list. It's going to be really interesting to see what the new rotation will look like and if the Sons will be able to adapt.

February 26 was one of the worst months for the Thralls of Dracula. Not only did they muss the 50% win rate by a mile but they also had a rare month of below 100 games played.

Rated Singles Events

Respect the Nerds! The Wizard of the Convocation take the crown of RSE February.

Dollar Store Anti Adam Warlock is back dominating RSE again? What is this 2023? Of course 20 games is basically nothing but winning 75% of those 20 games is still no joke. Corvus also didn't completely embarrass himself. I'm actually interested in how people play him and his leadership nowadays. Reality Gem feels terrible now for anyone not named Adam Warlock and Thanos and only if they are using their own leaderships to make it free of cost again. So is it Time Gem Corvus or playing him as a 4 threat?

For anyone fearing Inhumans would be out of the game after the Great Refuge ban: Black Bolt had a 61% win rate in February. Medusa (in a fraction of the games played) was even better. Even Maximus had a very good positive record. Inhumans might have lost an insane tool and players as a result. Those that stayed know what they're doing though.

Servants of the Apocalypse are strong and popular. In other news: Water is wet.

Namor fell to a heart crushing below 60% but luckily Nick Fury and iTony had great success in their few games as well so SHIELD, who are getting Rescue shortly and a new affiliated card with her, remains red hot.

Until some major updates happen or the crisis rotation is going extremely wide (which doesn't seem to be the case) Dark Dimension will be strong and they proved it again in February.

Strucker was far more popular but Red Skull far more successful for Hydra who end up with a very good RSE win rate because of the latter.

A new member and a confirmed update to She-Hulk on the horizon A-Force win 55% of their 69 (nice ๐Ÿ˜Ž) RSE games in February.

It has finally happened. Web of the Spider-Verse has surpassed Miles leadership in both AE and RSE for the month.

A very good month for the New Mutants. Fingers crossed for the releases on the Road Map for them anyway.

Someone has found RSE success with Logan led Weapon X which is impressive, even though the sample size is tiny.

Kingpin carries Criminal Syndicate as he often does and with Iron Monger joining the affiliation officially later this week I have a feeling he might even trend up still.

Doctor Strange was even better in RSE than in AE (and has won Carlcon piloted by Hyperviper, congrats) while Daredevil at least wasn't terrible making it a strong overall month for Defenders.

Mighty Avengers, still she shiny new affiliation, were once again mighty popular though perfectly average in terms of success. Which is fantastic from a balance perspective.

Speaking of that here in RSE Adam Warlock, once again blowing my mind by being this popular, is just barely above 50% and Guardians of the Galaxy get dragged down to 49% overall by Star-Lord. I'll be running Adam Warlock Guardians in my next tournament in March and will probably have a grand total of 1 game (played yesterday) of practice with it. Wish me luck, I'll definitely need it ๐Ÿ˜„

Jane Foster could not carry over the comeback AE month into RSE, where only Loki 2 managed to stay positive for Asgard. I'll get my Valkyrie and Elendil/ Warriors Three pack for my birthday tomorrow and am looking forward to trying them out soon but with so much interesting stuff coming out almost simultaneously (and limited time to play) it's gonna take a while for me to get to them (Adam Guardians, Kang Cabal, new Sentinels, finishing my 10 games with Avengers and X-Men before the games start to fall off all taking precedence here and once I've gone through all this X-Factor is likely to be out and demanding my attention. Not to mention that I should be practicing for WTC most likely).

Almost all Unaffiliated games were played in RSE, which makes even less sense to me.

Having suffered through 10 games of Legion of the Lost last summer I have a lot of respect for anyone trying it in RSE. Mephisto is a lot of fun but that leadership is basically playing Unaffiliated with a tiny bonus from round 2 onwards.

Hellfire Club in it's current state almost made it to 50%. They'll be top tier again later this year. Mark my words.

In a weird turn of events both Red Skulls had good RSE months, where they were both below 50% in AE. Kang posts Elsa Bloodstone numbers in his first relevant RSE month. I have a feeling it won't stay that way.

While still not quite reaching an even record Sentinels were a bit better in RSE than in AE.

X-Force ๐Ÿ™… this is their best RSE ranking in months, almost scratching the 50% mark, where January saw them posting and abysmal 34% win rate.

Sam Wilson Marvel god. His play rate ist low; his win rate astronomical. First Avenger also had a decent month but classic Steve 1 is really down and out in RSE at the moment.

Just like in AE, a down month for M'Baku means a down month for Wakanda as a whole.

I feel like Spider-Foes need a little boost to... Something. I'm not even sure what it is to be honest, but they can't seem to find reliable success lately.

Speaking of which, X-Men, especially aside from Xavier led, have struggled the entire last year and continue to do so right now. Phoenix buff at Adepticon? Unlikely but would be highly appreciated.

Turns out a lot of Winter Guards wins didn't come in RSE.

Not a good month to be a Halloween monster (or Huntress of them) as the Midnights Sons fall to almost the bottom of the standings.

That questionable honor is taken by the Count himself for February 26.

That's it for today.

Cheers from Germany ๐Ÿป

Affiliation Overview: Spider-Foes (2026 update)

Why should you play the affiliation  Are you a somewhat of a scientist yourself? Do you like crushing arachnids? Do you love making overly complicated plans and see them ruined by a teenager?  Spider-Foes are a super fun faction, which boosts the best looking line of miniatures in the game and a very fun and unique play style with tricks and traps.  How to start the affiliation  As long as it's available you absolutely start with the Spider-Foes Starter set. It's the so gle best deal in MCP and probably all of tabletop wargaming.  The only characters you're missing out of the affiliation after that are:  Kingpin (available in the Criminal Syndicate Affiliation pack, which is a good additional pick up after the starter set)  Doctor Octopus (available in the Spider-Foes Affiliation Pack or Rivals Panel)  Doc Ock, Sinister Scientist (available in the Earth Mightiest Core Set, a good additional pick up if you need terrain) Venom (currently de f...

Affiliation Overview: Web Warriors

Why should you play the affiliation  Peter Parker is the single most popular character in the world. Miles and Gwen share between them the focus of the two best superhero movies of all time and are extremely popular characters in their own rights.  On the table Web Warriors are a supreme objective play team building off of their core of incredible 3 threats. They are big enough nowadays to offer different approaches too though.  How to start the affiliation  Untypically I don't think getting the affiliation pack is always the best way to start here. While Miles and Gwen are absolute core models to the affiliation, 4 threat Peter Parker will very rarely (if ever) see the table and Venom is decent but really up to personal taste. And seeing how the only real benefit of the affiliation pack is getting the additional Peter for free you can really decide if that's worth it for you. If you own core set 1 you already have the character and if you own core set ...

Affiliation Overview: Defenders (updated)

Why should you play the affiliation  Defenders are a giant affiliation containing both the more mystic focused Defenders of Doctor Strange and also the Marvel Knights which made up the Netflix show Defenders.  On the board Defenders have a super deep roster with a tonne of great characters and some variety in play style.  How to start the affiliation Update: In Q2 2025 AMG releases the Defenders affiliation pack which uniquely comes with five models in Doctor Strange, Wong, Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. You have to pick this pack up first and absolutely should.  After that I would first pick up Shang-Chi and Silver Sable followed by Hulk and then Namor and Black Panther, Chosen of Bast. You have your core very much there. The affiliation is very deep and has a lot of good characters but with those mentioned you have your probably most used models in hand already. Also all of the affiliated TTCs. Just note that Pentagrams of Falafel (let me have fun with t...
