May 2026 Affiliation Stats

Welcome to the May 26 Affiliation Stats article. We have some big surprises this month especially compared to the April 26 stats.

As always we start with All Events (AE) and further down we have Rated Singles Events (RSE).

It's a weird in-between time where we wait for the (delayed into July) big character update and where some people and Events still use the former Crisis Rotation while some already use the new one.

All Events:

SHIELD has been dominating for some time now mostly relying Namor, who stays unhealthy above 60% but in May Nick Fury also got back on track with an even higher win rate (in a fraction of the games played).

It's only 23 games but a 65% win rate before the update is impressive for Hellfire Club, the first big surprise of the month.

Convocation in the top 3 is not that big of a surprise for regular readers but going over 60% is not that common even for them.

Wakanda is back with a vengeance. King T absolutely dominated and M'Baku also got back on track. And even Killmonger Usurper won 4 of 6 games in May.

Rumours of the dead of Black Bolt were greatly exaggerated. He is back to old form storming back into the top 5 overall for the Inhumans, despite below 50% months for Maximus and Medusa.

What the hell happened with Avengers? Close to 500 games and fantastic results from all four leaders were not expected at all after the continued bad months before this.

Miles once again leads the charge in another strong Web Warriors month. They somehow aren't really on peoples mind at the moment I feel but they post great numbers in games and wins at a consistent level.

Good performances from both relevant Hydra leaders in close to 100 overall games.

Only 41 games with New Mutants but a decent win rate in those 41.

Servants of the Apocalypse so low?! What is this, 2024? Well the 53% is still very good and the play rate has dropped a bit so I actually wouldn't give much thought into it just yet.

Midnight Sons crawl out of the Shadows with a real Comeback month and even Elsa Bloodstone performing well above her (very low) average.

I'm pretty sure Dark Dimension misses the top 10 for the first time since Dormammu got his update in November 25. They still stayed positive though.

Kingpin who absolutely dominated the play rate for Criminal Syndicate had a good, but not great month this time around and received very little help from MODOK and especially Shadowland Daredevil.

Cabal apparently only had four of the five leaders record any games in May and Kang was absolutely the driving factor of the Affiliation and also the most successful.

Guardians of the Galaxy were immensely popular with Adam Warlock alone recording over 300 games played and being above 50% but Star-Lord could not hang with those numbers dragging the Affiliation overall down to a flat 50%.

Bastion is instrumental in bringing the Sentinels to over 250 games played but could not quite reach 50% himself, while Sentinel Prime MK4 could.

A-Force didn't have a great but also not a terrible month.

Professor X could play in the big leagues with X-Men but his students Storm and especially Cyclops will not let him (even if they improved a bit).

After their Mighty start Mighty Avengers have lost a lot of steam lately. Play rate is still relatively high but the win rate has dropped about 10 percent from their release.

Defenders are still considered a top tier Affiliation by many competitive players but the numbers absolutely aren't supporting that. But of course playing the Affiliation well isn't as plug and play as for some others maybe and the play rate is very high so maybe it's a skill issue 😉

Scratching at the 300 games mark Asgard misses the 50% mark quite clearly. Valkyrie and Elendil and the Warriors Three couldn't give them the necessary boost.

Almost half of the few Weapon X games were played without the leadership (AtB Jaime approves) but it did make much of a difference either way.

Thralls of Dracula get well over 100 games but wins only 47 of them for a low 41% win rate.

Winter Guard stays below 50 game and well below 50% and can't get for July to finally get some help.

After a very respectable April Brotherhood of Mutants is back in the bottom of the standings here with Magneto faring especially poorly.

If anyone has anything new to say about X-Force be sure to let me know...

Very sad to see Spider-Foes, many people's first affiliation nowadays with the excellent Starter Set, and also the one with the best average in sculpts so low.

Black Order also has to hope the Character updates will do something for them even if none of them are on the Rerelease schedule making it much less likely to receive anything else than pure Stamina buffs.

Unaffiliated is dead last where it belongs 🙂

I don't usually include the played crisises in these articles but for this month I think it's pretty interesting living in these in between times:

High numbers for soon to be gone Deadly Legacy Virus, Fear Grips and Montessi Formular.

Skrulls, which is part of the new rotation as well is by far the most played Extract. The new ones weren't super popular yet.

M'Kraan has a big last hurrah before it leaves Challenger in June. Infinity Formula remains a staple and Lockdown is much more popular than I would have expected.

The 20s (Scoundrels and Wedding Party), even though very different are both very popular.

For the first time in a long time we see clear advantages of having Priority and especially First turn. But it remains in an OK range.
Threat has spread out a lot more nowadays even if 17 is still the most played.

You can absolutely expect your game to go 4 rounds but be aware that a good portion of them already ended after 3 (which is too short in my opinion) and about as much went to 5. A small margin went to 6 and the rest are statistical outliers.

Rated Singles Events (RSE):

Bow before the White Queen of the Hellfire Club. Sure 19 games is not a relevant amount but going 14:5 in those is a statement anyway. Someone must've found a very good working list there.

I hate you too Namor (and yes Pizza is life). He continues to absolutely dominate and Nick Fury, who enjoys being well above the curve for a bit longer with the delayed updates does his job extremely well when called upon (and so did iTony for that matter).

SimsalaBam! Convocation didn't reach 100 RSE games but they won an incredible 46 of their 75.

Black Bolt rocking numbers like it's 2025 scratching 70% wins and only Maximus keeps the Inhumans at least a little bit in check.

Good numbers in few games for the New Mutants.

60% win rate you say? Miles Morales can play that game as well. And Web of the Spider-Verse and even ASM don't follow too far behind with good months on their own rights.

A fantastic overall month for the Avengers. Everyone performed very well and the play rate was high.

Wakanda had a comeback in win rate even if play rate was extremely low in RSE for them.

Limited games but good success for Hydra in RSE as well.

Sentinels make the top 10 in RSE and both leaders have better numbers here than in AE.

The resurgence of the Midnight Sons proves not to be an AE fluke but also holds true in RSE.

Rank 12 is very unusually low for Servants of the Apocalypse but they still sit well above 50% anyway.

Kingpin had an even better month in RSE and is the only really relevant leader for Criminal Syndicate in competitive games at the moment it seems.

Mighty Avengers fared a lot better in RSE than in AE and were able to stay just above 50%.

Dark Dimension held on to exactly 50% which still is their worst performance since Dormammus buff.

Kang has clearly taken over Cabal as their main leader and leads the charge with an above 50% win rate.

Asgards best affiliated 5 threat Thor, Prince of Asgard had a good month going above 50% but Loki and Jane couldn't support him well enough for the Affiliation overall to get over the mark eben if neither was completely terrible.

Almost 400 games for the Affiliation with the best comics and movies (even though the movies are bad representations of the actual characters) but Star-Lord struggled a bit and Adam Warlock was only perfectly average, leaving them below 50%.

The majority of A-Force games in May were played in RSE but it didn't change much about the average win percentage for them.

Defenders once again super popular but not able to turn it into consistent success.

It's closer in RSE than in AE but Professor X remains the best leader for the X-Men.

X-Force is closer to the X-Men in RSE at least so there's that I guess?

Winter Guard awaits being relevant again.

A sad month in RSE for Brotherhood of Mutants and Spider-Foes alike.

Thralls of Dracula have their worst RSE month yet, Weapon X lost 2/3 of their very few RSE games, Legion of the Lost didn't have many games nor wins and Black Order was beyond terrible.

That's it for today.

Cheers from Germany 🍻

Affiliation Overview: Spider-Foes (2026 update)

Why should you play the affiliation  Are you a somewhat of a scientist yourself? Do you like crushing arachnids? Do you love making overly complicated plans and see them ruined by a teenager?  Spider-Foes are a super fun faction, which boosts the best looking line of miniatures in the game and a very fun and unique play style with tricks and traps.  How to start the affiliation  As long as it's available you absolutely start with the Spider-Foes Starter set. It's the so gle best deal in MCP and probably all of tabletop wargaming.  The only characters you're missing out of the affiliation after that are:  Kingpin (available in the Criminal Syndicate Affiliation pack, which is a good additional pick up after the starter set)  Doctor Octopus (available in the Spider-Foes Affiliation Pack or Rivals Panel)  Doc Ock, Sinister Scientist (available in the Earth Mightiest Core Set, a good additional pick up if you need terrain) Venom (currently de f...

Affiliation Overview: Web Warriors

Why should you play the affiliation  Peter Parker is the single most popular character in the world. Miles and Gwen share between them the focus of the two best superhero movies of all time and are extremely popular characters in their own rights.  On the table Web Warriors are a supreme objective play team building off of their core of incredible 3 threats. They are big enough nowadays to offer different approaches too though.  How to start the affiliation  Untypically I don't think getting the affiliation pack is always the best way to start here. While Miles and Gwen are absolute core models to the affiliation, 4 threat Peter Parker will very rarely (if ever) see the table and Venom is decent but really up to personal taste. And seeing how the only real benefit of the affiliation pack is getting the additional Peter for free you can really decide if that's worth it for you. If you own core set 1 you already have the character and if you own core set ...

Affiliation Overview: Defenders (updated)

Why should you play the affiliation  Defenders are a giant affiliation containing both the more mystic focused Defenders of Doctor Strange and also the Marvel Knights which made up the Netflix show Defenders.  On the board Defenders have a super deep roster with a tonne of great characters and some variety in play style.  How to start the affiliation Update: In Q2 2025 AMG releases the Defenders affiliation pack which uniquely comes with five models in Doctor Strange, Wong, Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. You have to pick this pack up first and absolutely should.  After that I would first pick up Shang-Chi and Silver Sable followed by Hulk and then Namor and Black Panther, Chosen of Bast. You have your core very much there. The affiliation is very deep and has a lot of good characters but with those mentioned you have your probably most used models in hand already. Also all of the affiliated TTCs. Just note that Pentagrams of Falafel (let me have fun with t...
